I have been using Tableau for a long time but only used the basic features frequently. I never got the chance to explore the other interesting features of Tableau tool. I recently upgraded the software to version 10.1 and I was really surprised and impressed of all the new features this version has offered.
I explored these new features and have implemented them in my first Tableau Public interactive dashboard. Below is the dashboard on the notorious security breaches of all time since 2004. As you can see from the dashboard, there is a multitude of security breaches. Even the large corporate companies like Apple, AOL, LinkedIn etc were not spared.
As it is said - "No software is Perfect", same goes with any company. No matter how many firewalls they install or use the "perfect" anti-virus protection, attackers will always find loopholes. A recent security breach of a giant IT company, Yahoo, showed that no companies could be spared no matter how well secured they are.
The following interactive dashboard shows how different companies were affected by security breaches and through what medium. Line graph on the upper side shows how many such cases were reported annually. You can click on the data points to further filter down the visualization to see what companies were affected. The drop down list gives you feasibility to see different graphs showing what percentage of a number of records were stolen in their respective category graphs. Tableau 10.1 provides a new feature called Data Highlighter which can be used to highlight the points or items in the graphs. Same can be done in this visualization to see what all companies are there in the bubble chart by using the highlighter feature shown on the left.
Please view this dashboard on this link or down below and comment to further improve the visualization. Data source was taken from www.informationisbeautiful.net.
